WUOC: World University Orienteering Championships preview

This week the World University Orienteering Championships are taking place in Borlange, Sweden, with a record 31 nations and 309 athletes taking part. Amongst them will be a strong British team, looking to follow on from a successful competition in Estonia two years ago.

Sam Giles to cycle solo Lands End to John O' Groats

Sam Giles, a Junior with Sarum and SW Squad, is to cycle solo from Lands End to John O'Groats, averaging 80 miles a day. Inspired by the sad loss of two classmates, he has taken two years to plan this sponsored event and hopes to raise £2000 for two cancer and leukaemia charities. If you were pushed out of the mud at this years JK, Sam was probably one of the youngsters who helped you!

The Junior World Orienteering Championships gets underway tomorrow with the sprint distance event around the grounds of Aalborg University, Denmark.

Grampian Mountain Challenge

For all orienteers interested in Long-O and multi-day events Grampian Orienteers are organising a mountain marathon (solo or pairs) near Braemar on 13th and 14th November with part of the course in a forest on 1:10,000 scale maps.
