Silver Medal for Kris

Kris Jones had a fantastic sprint race today to claim silver medal at the Junior World Championships. This is Britain's best ever JWOC result and only second ever medal.

With one of the last starts there were some very fast times up on the board, yet Kris Jones came through all the radio controls in the lead and posted the fastest time at the finish. There were only a handful of people off behind him who could really take the gold. Danielson of Norway start 1 minute after Kris and posted some very similar times, but he never had the advantage and came home 2 seconds down on the Welshman. It was the 150th starter out of 154 who stole the day, Rasmus Hansen of Denmark running on home soil had a perfect race and in the end took a clear vicotry of 19 seconds. No one else could touch their times and Kris Jones is going to be coming home with a shiny silver medal. A fantastic result!!!

There were some other good performances from our top boys. Alasdair McLeod had a very early start and came home with the 2nd fastest time. As the day went on very few people were going quicker and he managed to hold on to a fantastic 15th place and a new JWOC PB. Also setting a new PB was Ralph Street, he finished just 5 seconds behind Alasdair in 18th position.
