British WOC team selection races

The World Orienteering Championships selection races for the British team will be held in Scotland from May 14th - 16th and entries are now open. Friday 14th will see a sprint race at Erskine near Glasgow, with Saturday and Sunday seeing events near Oban with a middle distance race at Ardnaskie and a classic on Creag Mhic Chailein.

UK Cup Round 2 & WRE: The Trossachs

The Trossachs, arguably one of Britain's toughest orienteering terrains, hosted Sunday's World Ranking Event where it was again Scott Fraser victorious in the Men's Elite, this time alongside Siri Ulvestad of NTNUI in Norway who won Women's Elite, both by impressive margins.

UK Cup Round 1: Touch Estate

When the going gets tough in Touch, the tough get going. Scott Fraser and Sarah Rollins won the middle distance races at Touch on Saturday, after strong showings through the latter stages of the course. The event proved to be a tough and technical season opener for the top class field, including most of the British squad as well as a number of top overseas runners.

British Night Championships on TV next weekend

Orienteering goes primetime as the British Night Championships will be screened on BBC2 in Scotland on Sunday 4 April at 7pm.

First big weekend of the year

Spring is (finally) here and the British elite are getting ready for the season opener with the first major races of the year - the FVO double header at Touch and the Trossachs. The Trossachs being a World Ranking Event adds extra gravitas for those competing against some of the UK's toughest orienteering terrain, and an influx of European competitors will add to the competition.

All in Annecy, which is only 1 hour from Geneva airport. Think about staying on to take in the spectacular final of the 2010 World Cup: a sprint in Geneva & a middle in Lausanne, the weekend after.
