Orienteering on TV

Orienteering scored a double whammy of publicity this weekend, featuring on both television and radio. Both portrayed the sport well, with an emphasis on the athleticism and challenge of navigation.

On Saturday morning orienteering featured four times on BBC 1 Breakfast, as part of Mike Bushell's Saturday morning sports report where Mike tries his hand at a sport which is new to him.

Mike attended the military league orienteering event at Yateley on Wednesday 13th February and sampled the D course as well as interviewing British internationalist Sarah Rollins along with David Abrams.

View the feature here on YouTube, thanks to Ollie O'Brien for capturing this.

Then on Saturday afternoon orienteering featured on Stuart Maconie's Saturday Afternoon show on Radio 2. Stuart interviewed Allan Williams, the controller of the British Night Championships next weekend, about the sport in both its daylight and nighttime forms.

We've grabbed the audio for those of you who missed it, so you can listen to it here.

Congratulations to all those involved in securing this publicity!
