The Streets of Oxford play host to the final race of the UK Cities Cup this weekend. The Oxford Street Race, which did much to inspire the series formation, has a great reputation of top quality urban races with the university town lending itself to technical, fast-paced urban orienteering.

The top spot in the mens race was already decided after the Warwick race, where several no-shows handed INT’s Murray Strain the 1st UK Cities Cup Title.

The focus will then be on the women for the top spot still up for grabs. Both CLYDE’s Helen Palmer and SYO’s Laura Daniel have a great chance of taking the series title with only 2 points separating them overall. Helen must surely go into this race as favourite having beaten Laura in every UK Cities Cup race so far and her form this year seeing her represent Great Britain at the World Championships in Ukraine this summer. However, Laura has competed in more rounds, increasing her experience at urban O and is coming into the race full of confidence after recent victory in the individual race in the SHI’s which took place in Wales. It will be I tightly fought battle between the two and with many other top names in attendance, such as Rachel Elder and Helen Winskill to name just two, there may be a twist to this tale yet. Who will be victorious, find out this weekend in the streets of Oxford!
