woc :: test race embargoes

WOC next year will take place in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev but for the first time this century the selection races will be held in this country, ending the trend of the squad management seeking out relevant, neutral terrain abroad, in favour of accessible races at home.

The races will also incorporate the final rounds of the 2007 UK Cup. The format of the weekend will be a sprint race on the Friday evening, followed by a Long on Saturday and a Middle on Sunday.

Two embargoes have been put in place for the sprint. The first is the Stirling University campus and the neighbouring Hermitage woods on the slopes of Dumyat. The second is an area just to the south of Aviemore, on either side of the A9. Click here for map The Long race will be held on Creag Leach, last used for a major event at Highland '99. The intricate plateau with lots of forest tracks was also used for a selection race in 99!

The middle race will be held at Carse of Ardesier, on the Moray coast near Nairn. This little known gem is reminiscient of Culbin or Roseisle and was used for a SOL last year.

All areas are embargoed as of last weekend.
