SHUOC - Men's winners

The Harvester Relays acted as the final event for this year’s UK Relay League, and it was fitting that both winner’ of this finale were also the winners of the overall league as well – congratulations to SHUOC in the men’s event, and SYO in the women’s.

SHUOC benefited from a vast array of top runners, including GB members Matt Crane and Oli Johnson, who were both in the rampant team at the British Champs where they won convincingly. Craney wasn’t available for the Harvester as he was training in Japan, but the university team just about coped without him, winning by just under 3 minutes from Edinburgh University, who were also runners-up in the UK Relay League. The young Scottish team started the season well, coming out on top at the JK in a fine display of navigational skills. The season still went very well for them considering the amount of runners who were either injured or unavailable for a number of races, most noticeably JWOC team member Scott Fraser who only appeared for EUOC at the JK. SYO were the only other team who won one of the season’s relays, showing a fine display of racing skills at the Scottish Champs.

SYO won the women’s league in convincing style, winning 3 of the 4 races thus taking maximum points, and also holding onto the title which they won last year. CLOK were the only team to take victory in another relay, winning the Scottish Champs by a decent margin. Octavian Droobers just missed out, finishing 1 point behind the north-east club, after 2 fantastic 2nd places at the British Champs and Harvester, an impressive feat considering only 1 of their 5 runners is actually a W21.
