Last weekend saw the SUSF Sprint Championships & Nopesport Trophy (not to mention a South of Scotland O League Event) take place at a weekend of events organised by Clydeside Orienteers.

Saturday saw the SUSF Sprints & Nopesport Sprint title decided at Auchengillan Scout Camp in a fast & furious gaffled course planned by our very own Pyrat. Men's winner Murray Strain led from the start but it wasn't until the first gaffles that he managed to stretch his lead which saw him take victory by almost a minute and a half from Interlopers Ray Ward just pushing Clyde's Paddy Walder into 3rd. Murray was the only runner to break 20 minutes for the 4km course with a time of 19:03. Taking 2nd place in the SUSF competition once again was Ed Nicholas who "cruised round" after losing touch with the leaders on a gaffle.

The women's race was much clearer cut with Claire Ward of Interlopers using her sprinting expertise, honed in last years PWT races, to take victory (and 6th place overall) by over 3 minutes from the next female, Victoria Longhurst of FVO who was top Junior. First in the SUSF competition was Kirsten Strain making it a family double, or rather a triple as Sheila Strain took the Women's Veteran title with SIMan himself Robin Strain taking 3rd place on the Men's Veteran title behind Martin Dean & Gary Longhurst (both FVO) in 1st & 2nd respectively.

The Sprint Results arehere.

The following day saw the Nopesport Plates given out to the winners of the Brown & Blue courses at Mugdock Country Park. Previous victor Dave Robertson was unable to defend his title but it was another Dave (Godfree) who took his 2nd SoSOL victory in 2 weeks, and the Nopesport trophy. Godders won by just over a minute from fellow Interlopers member Graeme Ackland with Martin Dean of FVO in 3rd spot.

In the women's trophy it was once again Claire Ward who was victorious. Claire won the Blue course by almost a minute from Steve Wilson of Clyde with next female once again Kirsten Strain in 10th with Anne Struabe 3rd female in 18th spot.
