We have now had 7 races of the season, and with just 2 more weekends to go if you haven’t started scoring points already it’s a bit late to start now! Stephen Palmer came back to Britain for the weekend from Sweden to take the most points from the Men’s class, with Allan Bogle, Matt Speake, Matt Crane, Andy Etherden and Nick Barrable also getting big points. In the Women’s class, Helen Winskill took 1st and 4th to take the most points from the weekend, the short race being her 3rd UK Cup win of the season. Mhairi Mackenzie looks pretty comfortable with the leading junior position after another great run on the short race. Sarah Rollins took her 1st victory of the season on the classic race, and with 4 races to go she is still in a strong position to retain her title as UK Cup champion. Other top performances from the weekend include Jenny Whitehead, Kim Buckley and Hannah Wooton.
With only 6 races to count, some runners are already dropping their weaker runs, such as Men’s UK Cup leader Ed Nash who was able to drop his Short race performance from this weekend and keep his lead at the top of the standings. This leaves him with a 12 point advantage over EBOR’s Matt Speake, who is 15 points ahead of SHUOC’s Matt Crane.
In the Women’s it is SYO’s Helen Winskill who tops the billing with 281 points, keeping her place at the top. 18 points behind is Sarah Rollins, with Hannah Wooton just 3 points behind Sarah.
