Just 10 seconds separated winner Valentin Novikov and runner-up Jonas Pilblad over the 25.2km Ultra-Long at the Swedish Championships, which gave Pilblad his second medal after the bronze he picked up in yesterday’s sprint race. Erik Öhlund finished 3rd 3 minutes further back. Yesterday’s winner, 21-year old Martin Johansson, finished in a very creditable 11th place 7 minutes behind the winner.
However, there was even less of a winning margin in the D21 where Simone Niggli-Luder won again, but finishing just 7 seconds in front of Ulricehamns OK club mate Jenny Johansson (her second silver of the weekend) on the 15.6km course. And there was just another 3 seconds to 3rd placed Petra Thomasson of Leksands, probably resulting in one of the closest races all season over the longest race of the season!
Henrik Jansson won H20 by a huge margin, nearly 10 minutes in front of John Fredriksson, whilst in D20 Elin Skantze picked up her seond win of the weekend.
