Anna Persson of Sweden and Fabian Hernter of Swizterland are crowned Junior World Champions of Orienteering in the middle distance.

In Switzerland two years ago a Frenchman stormed round the WOC middle distance in a time no one could quite belive, many calling it the best run ever. For a time today it seemed that Phillippe Adamski might replicate Tero's winning performance, however Fabian Hertner of Swizerland spoilt the french party. He didn't buckle under the pressure of the last start and caught the other two heat winners to come in a minute clear of the Frenchman.

Scott Fraser ran a really strong race achieving his best international result yet in a brilliant 10th place, the third best result ever by a British Male at JWOC.

The Womens race was a much tighter affair with Anna Persson of Sweden snatching victory by 9 seconds from Heinni Wennmann of Finland. Australia took the third spot with Hanny Allston making good on the skills which saw her win her heat last year but this time she held it together in the final - but watch out, as the Aussie team are predicting bigger things from her tomorrow...

Mhairi Mackenzie didn't have the cleanest of runs, but a strong 2nd half saw her pull up into a highly respectable 17th place.
