The European youth championships concluded today with the relays. It was always going to be a tough test to beat the Czech Republic on home terrain and this was proved as they again took three out of the four titles by comfortable margins.

The W16 team of Jindra HlavováMichaela Procháová Ivana Bochenkováead from the start and won by over 5imns from Switzerland, with Germany taking 3rd. The result was mimmicked in the W18 relay as the Czech republic team also won by over 5mins with runs that included two of the three fastest times. Poland took 2nd and Russia finished 3rd. The GB team of Tessa Hill, Rose Hodkinson & Ruth Holmes battled it out further back with France, Austria & Estonia And finshed in 11th position.

In the mens16 a strong showing from the young Swiss team Matthias Kyburz , Philipp Sauter & Martin Hubmann (relation to Daniel Hubmann?) took the victory by the biggest margin of the day winning by almost 7mins from the Czech Republic. Hungary completed the top 3. The host nation returned to winning ways in the M18 class again winning by a 5min gap, this time over Hungary, with Germany just taking 3rd ahead of Russia. A disappointing day for the young GB mens team as Douglas Tullie, who has run well over the weekend, was disqualified on 1st leg. Irelands M18 team finished in 19th place.
