As well as being an FCC race for the older juniors, yesterdays SOL at the trossachs was the first of this years selection races for the START squad and summer tours.

In the M16 class Jack Wood was the only guy to beat JWOC medallist Alison O'Neil, and he comfortably won the course five minutes ahead of his nearest rival Calum Coombs of MAROC. Hector Haines took third place while Daniel 'Neville' Hartmann of HOC was the first non-start squad runner.

There was a surprise winner on the W16 course, where Jenny Thornton of CLOK narrowly beat Emily Benham of SARUM. Jenny only finished 40th at last years JK and is not in the START squad.... yet!

In the older classes the most outstanding performnace came from Douglas Tullie in his M18 debut, where he finished third overall in the FCC class, behind only Scott Fraser and Oleg Chepelin, stars of the GB Squad.

There was a low turnout from the W18's, with Rebecca Roberts being the star in 2nd place overall, whilethe best START squad member was Jess Halliday, seven minutes behind her and 4 seconds ahead of the young Scot Rachel Smirthwaite.
