Swedish Championships

Classic

Experienced Gunnila Svard took gold ahead of the very fast but somewhat erratic Emma Engstrand. Anna Maarsell took the bronze medal, pushing WOC-favourite Jenny Johansson into 4th place. Other leading WOC contenders struggled, Super Noodles-Luder finished well down in 17th while Karolina A Hojsgaard finished even further back in 23rd. However, since the Swedish/Swiss team is already clear these runners will not have been focusing on these races, and will probably be treating them as a test.
Mens Champion was former World Sprint Champion Jimmy Birklin ahead of Mats Troeng, who missed selection for the WOC team. Nick Barrable was the only Brit running in the competition, he missed out in qualifying finishing 17th in his heat with only 13 to go through.

Night
The Swedish Night championships are held as a mass start race and last year Nick Barrable ran into a medal. This year Erik Engstrand ran away from the field and won by over a minute and a half. Rose-Marie Forslund took the ladies title.

Short

The Top placings in the short race looked more like what one would expect. Jenny Johansson celebrated her first ever Swedish Gold, beating Emma Engstrand by 35 seconds. Karolina Hojsgaard took bronze pushing Super Noodles-Luder into fourth place.

With Eiml Wingstedt rnning (badly) in the Norwegian Championships, Jonas Pilblad took the Gold in Sweden, ahead of Niclass Jonasson and Johan Nasman.

Relay
It came down to a sprint finish in the mens class, with Sodertalje Nykvarn's Niclas Jonasson seeing off JWOC02 winner Erik Andersson of Denseln. Damien Renard of France gave Erik a 1 minute lead into the last leg but Niclass caught and passed the younger runner to give SNO the title.

No shocks in the womens relay, Mullerrice OK took the title. This time Martina Fritschy was out of the team so Stina grenholm led off, coming in 8th and handing over to Super Noodles-luder. She's underperformed this week, failing to make the medal rostrum, but she ran a calm race and pulled the team up and into the lead, a lead that Jenny Johansson held onto. Mullerrice OK, unbeaten in major relays for 12 months, since the arrival in Sweden of Super-Noodles. Karo A Hojsgaard pulled Domnarvets GOIF into silver medal position while Gunilla Svard anchored IF Thor to bronze.
