WOC being held in September means that the Scandinavian national championships are being held earlier this year. The Norwegian Championship were also selection races for WOC, and held in quite swedish terrain, on the border between Oslo and Lillehammar.

In the opening Classic distance leading WOC- superstars Jorgen Rostrup, Oystein Kristiansen and Emil Wingstedt were kept out of the medals. Hans Gunnar Omdal took gold from Thormod Berg. Bjornar Vlastad took bronze, only 25 seconds down after over 87 minutes.
Dan Marston finished in 16th, 8 minutes down, while Nick Morgan did not run the illness which kept him out of the WOC-selection races still troubling him.

No surprises in the womens race as Hanne Staff secured another 'NM' title, but Britain had a reason to celebrate as Heather Monro took a bronze medal, 3 minutes behind Staff, a good show of form in the run up to WOC.

Highlights from the junior classes included JWOC winner Audun Bjerkriem Nilsen having to settle for silver, 15 seconds down after 87 minutes in a tough H20 while sister Betty Ann took Gold in D18. Magne Daeli looks to be following in his fathers winning ways. The son of Sigurd Daehli, WOC legend of the 70s, won H18.
